Background

In consolidation of their sector organization efforts, the African Cashew Alliance (ACA) and the GIZ/ComCashew project consolidate the achievements, upgrade and reinforce the capacity of local actors, and transfer knowledge to partners and target groups. In this context, GIZ/ComCashew, with support from ACA introduced the “Master Training Program” (MTP). 6 editions have been held already in which hundreds of experts have been trained between 2014 and 2018. In order to prepare and deliver editions 7, 8 and 9, the ComCashew project through its MTP partner, the African Cashew Alliance (ACA) is seeking the services of qualified persons or parties to serve in role of Training Material Development expert for editions 7,8 and 9 of the MTP.

The MTP aims to:

  • Create a pool of qualified experts in the cashew value chain in West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, also reaching out to other West-African countries - e.g.  Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Mali); and
  • Reach out to East African Countries;
  • Facilitate the regional exchange of knowledge, learning and innovation.

Required profile of the Training Material Development expert

  • Should have a minimum of 10-year experience on the topic and demonstrated experience on training material development.
  • Must have expertise on the above-mentioned topics and understand the cashew value chain.
  • Must show evidence of participation in a working group for training materials development.
  • Must have knowledge on the use of Adult Learning Principles and modules.
  • knowledge of the Cashew sector, good proficiency in French and English is considered an added advantage.

This consultancy contract shall cover activities for the following training sessions

Home country of participants

The tasks are defined as follows:

Edition 7,8 and 9 (2019)

  1. Preparation and re-design of the Topics on Training Materials Development, based on Adult Learning Principles, lessons learnt from previous editions and training needs of participants.
  2. Attend debriefings during the training sessions with the resource persons, resource and logistics team and managements of ComCashew and ACA.
  3. Deliver detailed reports on each training session providing details on the Training materials development topics and the outcomes; and make recommendations for subsequent sessions.
  4. Assist lead facilitators and other resource persons during intersession activities for the participants
  5. Participate in the 5-day training sessions and assist the resource persons and teams to ensure training is delivered to the utmost satisfaction of participants.

Expected results:

  • At the end of the session, participants will be better equipped to develop training tools.
  • Participants understand the hidden/successful secrets for effective and efficient tool development.
  • Participants learn more about how to configure training tools and the development process.
  • In addition, all questions related to the theme presented are answered and participants will be able to use the precepts taught.
  • A training report is delivered at the end of each session.

Interested parties (both individuals and organisations) should send in their applications. For individuals; CV/Resumes and a cover letter detailing all their experiences and qualifications relevant to the tasks described. For organisations, brief proposal detailing the CV/Resume of the personnel proposed for the tasks. All received applications will be reviewed and scored based on the required profile of the Training Materials Development expert as described above.
