Call for Application: Lead Facilitators for the Cashew Master Training Programme(MTP)

The ACA Secretariat invites applications from individual Consultants who are interested in being Lead Facilitators of the Cashew Master Training Programme (MTP).

Background

In consolidation of their sector organization efforts, the African Cashew Alliance (ACA) and GIZ/ComCashew project want to consolidate the achievements, upgrade and reinforce the capacity of local actors, and transfer knowledge to partners and target groups. In this context, GIZ/ComCashew, with support from ACA, introduced the “Master Training Program” (MTP). 4 editions have been held already in which 246 experts have been trained between 2014 and 2017. Currently the 5th and 6th editions are ongoing with two of the 3 training sessions already done. In order to complete the last training sessions of the current running editions and to prepare and deliver editions 7, 8 and 9, the African Cashew Alliance (ACA) is therefore seeking the services of qualified experts to serve in role of Lead Facilitators for the remaining sessions and editions of the MTP.

 The aims of the MTP are to:

  • Create a pool of qualified experts on the cashew value chain in West African countries (Benin, Burkina Faso, Côte d'Ivoire and Ghana, also reaching out to other West-African countries - e.g. Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Mali); and
  • Reach out to East African Countries;
  • Facilitate the regional exchange of knowledge, learning and innovation.

Required profile of the Lead Facilitator

  • Should have an experience in adult education, organizational development (Gestalt) and facilitation of large groups.
  • Must have expertise on the above-mentioned topics and understand the cashew value chain.
  • Must have a profound knowledge on process facilitation and have experience in managing a very diverse cultural group.
  • Have experience on training design, concept and implementation; have experience in leading a group of facilitators.
  • Knowledge of the Cashew sector, proficiency in English and Basic French is considered an added advantage.

This consultancy contract shall cover activities for the following training sessions:

The tasks are defined as follows:

Edition 5 and 6 (2018)

  1. Prepare and design the appropriate training methods for the 3rd training Sessions in Cote D’Ivoire.
  2. Review and Validate training materials to be used for the sessions.
  3. Lead internal training/ teambuilding activities of the resources and logistics team.
  4. Lead the 5-day training sessions for both Module 5 and 6.
  5. Host post training review sessions with the Resources and logistics team as well as Management representatives of ComCashew and ACA.
  6. Hold debriefing sessions for management of ComCashew and ACA before, during and after each training session.
  7. Deliver detailed final reports on each training session providing details on issues and matters before, during and after the training with recommendations for subsequent sessions.

Edition 7, 8 and 9 (2019)

  1. Design and a share with Management of ComCashew and ACA a detailed implementation plan for all the editions and sessions.
  2. Design appropriate training methods and modules to ensure the best results for all the training Sessions
  3. Plan and prepare for each edition’s trainings sessions according to the event time table to ensure seamless transition from Edition to edition and session to session.
  4. Review and Validate training materials to be used for the sessions. Recommend necessary changes as required.
  5. Lead internal training/ teambuilding activities of the resources and logistics team.
  6. Lead the team of resource persons and teams during each of the 5-day training sessions
  7. Host post training review sessions with the Resources and logistics team as well as Management representatives of ComCashew and ACA.
  8. Hold debriefing sessions for management of ComCashew and ACA before, during and after each training session.
  9. Deliver detailed final reports on each training session providing details on issues and matters before, during and after the training with recommendations for subsequent sessions.
  10. Coordinate the collection of Data and training of participants during intersession (In between training sessions)
  11. Provide coaching to members of the Resources and logistics team during intersession.

Expected results:

  • The appropriate designs of the sessions 3 of the Master Training Programme (MTP) of the editions 5 and 6 as well as all three sessions of Editions 7, 8 and 9 are prepared.
  • The appropriate training module and materials are selected and adopted for all the sessions.
  • The resources and logistics team members are introduced to the training modules, the principles and the delivery process; and roles and responsibilities clearly defined for each team member.
  • The 5-day training sessions are delivered to the utmost satisfaction of the participants, management of ComCashew and management of ACA.
  • The resources, logistics and management team to analyze the processes and results of the training and make recommendations for the continuing training programme.
  • A training report delivered at the end of each session, as well as 2-pager debriefing notes to management of ComCashew and ACA.

Application process

Interested persons should send in their CV/Resumes and a cover letter detailing all their experiences and qualifications relevant to the tasks described. All received applications will be reviewed and scored based on the required profile of the Lead facilitator as described above.

In Addition, all applicants must send as a separate document a brief financial proposal detailing their approach to the tasks, the number of days required for each task and the total days as well as their quoted gross daily rate. Travel and per diem expenses will be covered separately and should not be included in the proposal. The financial proposal will not factor in the initial review and scoring of the applications; only shortlisted applicants will have their financial proposals considered. The top two (2) applicants will be selected and contracted as Lead facilitator and Co-Lead facilitator respectively.
