The Annual INC Convention (http://www.nutfruit.org/) that took place in Madrid, Spain this year, gathered organizations working in nuts and or dried fruits from all over the world. Producers, processors, salters, roasters and packagers meet during the event to discuss developments in the different nut and dried fruit markets. This year, under the INC umbrella, a First World Cashew Meeting will be held, initiated by Olam. It is expected that processors from India, Brazil, Vietnam and Africa, traders and brokers and end-users from Australia, United States, Japan and Europe will attend this meeting to formulate solutions for common issues and problems that cannot be resolved by one country itself. Worldwide promotion of cashew nut kernels, collection of production and consumption data, and quality standards for each origin are a few of the subjects that will be discussed. The meeting will look at forming a steering committee of various stakeholders who could subsequently take this forward, and make this Cashew Meeting into yearly event from which the Industry as a whole will benefit.Carlos Costa, president of the Executive Committee of the African Cashew Alliance, EC members from Global Trading and Olam, and Cilia de Cock from the ACA Secretariat will be present at the INC Convention and the Cashew Meeting.
