Benin elects national ACA body Print E-mail

In Benin the CCIB hosted an ACA follow up meeting where a national committee with an ACA representative for the Steering Committee was elected. The Benin national committee consists of:

  • Processor Abou Bakr Adjibade (Afokantan Benin Cashews)
  • Producer Idrissou Abdou (member of FENAPAB)
  • Trader and processor Dominique Sounlin (Kake5)
  • International trader Nitin Setia (Olam Nigeria - also responsible for cashew business in Benin)

The committee will be supported by Andre Tandjiekpon of INRAB (national research institute) and Richard Adjobo (SNV). The Chamber of Commerce (CCIB) will help organizing a legal structure, and PADSA (Danish development organization) will provide some small funds to start up.

The agenda is to work on a better environment for processing, issues with traceability, a long term view for the sector, better collaboration between the sub-sectors and a stimulating legal/regulatory framework.
