African Cashew Alliance

The African Cashew Alliance Secretariat began operations in June 2006, working on the establishment of the organization, international and regional promotion of ACA and African cashews, dissemination of information, training, and fostering a favorable environment for the cashew sector.

ACA's  strategic objectives are to:

1. increase processing of cashew in Africa.

    a. 10-year target : 35% of RCN processed in Africa

2. increase farmer income through yield and quality improvements.

    a. 10-year target : double average yield/tree (2.5-3kg average today)

    b. 10-year target : average outturn improvements per country

3. increase African cashew consumption in Africa and worldwide

    a. 10-year target : quadruple domestic consumption of cashew products in Africa.

    b. 10-year target : increased market share for African cashew.

  ACA has planned the following activities for October 2009 - September 2010:

• Training and technical assistance for cashew processors (regional trainings, individual consultancies and business plan templates and manuals)
• International promotion of African cashews at trade shows (Fancy Food Show, USA & ANUGA, Germany) and international events
• Country programs (Ghana Cashew Day, Benin Cashew Workshop, Nigeria Cashew Week, Gambia Cashew Workshop, Guinea Bissau Cashew Workshop)  and activities with partner organizations
• Annual Conference, 2010 and EC election
