Vietnam, which is currently the second largest producer and exporter of
cashew in the world, would overtake India in few years time if
concerted efforts were not taken by the authorities to increase the
production of raw cashew nuts indigenously.

Firm undertone continued in the cashew market but volume of business
was limited. Price levels W240 around 2.95, W320 around 2.60, and W450
around 2.50 FOB. Indian domestic demand and prices for broken grades
are very high. Tanzania RCN auctions started and 4-5000mt traded at
high levels - cost equivalent to approx 1050 C&F.

The climb continues… during this week, price for benchmark W320 grade moved up more than 4% - 10 cents a lb. Other grades also moved up by around 5 cents. Business was done from India & Vietnam for W240 around 2.90, W320 around 2.55, and W450 around 2.40 FOB. There are reports of sales few cents higher as well. USA was the most active buyer but other markets also participated to some extent.

Vietnam cashew watchdog petitions for tariff decrease |

The Vietnam Cashew Association (VINACAS) has sought a reduction of tariffs on raw cashew imports as domestic supplies could not meet with production demand for cashew nut exports.
