Cashew market became active suddenly this week and prices moved up -
business was done W240 from 3.00 to 3.10, W320 from 2.80 to 2.85, W450
from 2.50 to 2.55, FB from 2.25 to 2.30, FS from 2.20 to 2.25 FOB.

Guinea-Bissau: Over 96,000 tons of cashew nuts exported in 2007 |

Bissau,
Guinea-Bissau, 19 Feb - Guinea-Bissau sold some 96,117 tons of cashew
nuts to overseas buyers last year, according to a report released on
Friday by the Guinean Trade Ministry.
The report said cashew exports increased by 2,791 tons in 2007, or 3
percent, compared to the forecast growth of 10 percent. This was due to
lower than expected cashew production.

Cashew market was quiet this week – not much change in prices i.e. W240
from 3.10-3.15, W320 from 2.80-2.85, W450 from 2.55-2.60 FOB but some
packers sold W320 at slightly lower levels. Prices in domestic market
also came down a bit in last two weeks

Full mechanisation of cashew industry unlikely |

shortage in women workers. However, given the complex nature of the
work involved, a full mechanisation does not seem to be practical and
viable.
