Ashok Krishen is Managing Director of Olam International, and oversees the global cashews and spices division. He has worked for 15 years in Olam’s cashew operations in Nigeria, Benin, Ghana, Cote d’Ivoire, India and Singapore. Olam is a global integrated supply chain manager of 14 agricultural products and food ingredients and has 6,300 employees working in 52 countries. Olam specializes in sourcing, logistics, primary processing, shipping, marketing and distribution. It has a market share of 20% in the existing raw cashew nut trade, and 15% in the cashew kernel trade. Both from a commercial and a social responsibility point of view, Olam aims to support the cashew sector in Africa to generate more value for all its constituencies. Its cashew processing facilities in African countries generate employment and strive to further develop local communities.
